Would make this again.
My mother would make these with the anise flavor for my six siblings and I growing up thirty years ago. And still makes them for us today. We all just loved them. Since I live out of town,I bought my own pizzelle iron last week and was looking for recipes when I found this one. And it's GREAT!!!

I use this recipe every year but for those who Don't like anise you can substitute 1tsp.lemon extract and either 1 tsp.ground orange or lemon peel and also add candy sprinkles at the last minute to put rainbow colors into the cookies when baked.

I love these cookies at Christmas time. I use this recipe with spiced rum and orange peel..... these are the BEST.
